The West Nile Virus has been detected in a mosquito test sample from the City of Gainesville.  City and County residents are advised to take precautions and when outside to follow the 4 D’s message.

• DEET (or equivalent repellent) when going outdoors in mosquito areas
• DRESS using long, loose fitting clothing for ore mosquito protection
• DRAIN standing water around the home
• DUSK TO DAWN is the highest risk time for WNV carrying mosquitoes
