The COVID-19 (a.k.a. Coronavirus) Pandemic has had a profound effect on our everyday lives. With the cancellation of all face to face activities from school, academics & sports to 4-H contests, Cooke County 4-H has decided to have a Virtual Showcase Watch Party. This will give our members who had already begun the work of preparing for their Spring contests a chance to show off their work.
This IS NOT A COMPETITION, it is merely an opportunity for members to participate in what would have been a competition at the county, district & state level.
- Please refer to the provided links in each project area below for detailed information on category descriptions and established rules & guidelines in preparing your project. Again, please note that 4-H contests are prohibited during the COVID-19 Quarantine as well as no practices or face to face groups over 10 people. In order to participate in the virtual showcase, members will be required to upload a video of their project or projects.
- Upon submitting your registration, you will receive an email which will include the link to upload your video. Please be sure to provide your current, up to date email address when you fill out the registration form at the bottom of this web page.
Date of County Virtual Showcase Watch Party
May 1 & 2, 2020 @ 6:00 pm
(watch party will be one or both days, depending on the number of videos submitted)
Online Registration Deadline: April 27, 2020
TIPS FOR PREPARING YOUR VIDEO
The links below are a 3 part series of videos prepared by Kaufman County 4-H member and STEM Ambassador Peyton Elam. They will help you to understand how to have all the elements necessary to create a clear and concise video to use for a virtual watch party.
VIRAL SHOWCASE WATCH PARTY CATEGORIES
Educational presentations are planned talks in which one or more 4-H members teach others about a project or activity. The talks are ways of sharing useful information and of showing and telling others how to make or do something. It will be divided into four age groups – Clover Kids, Junior, Intermediate & Senior. (see age breaks in registration below)
Share the Fun
Share the Fun is a performance, similar to a talent show. For the purposes of our virtual showcase, only individual acts or sibling acts will be allowed in order to follow social distancing guidelines. Again, there will be four age groups – Clover Kids, Junior, Intermediate & Senior. (see age breaks in registration below)
The Fashion Show provides an opportunity for 4-H members to exhibit the skills learned in their project work. It also provides members an opportunity to increase their personal presentation skills. The virtual fashion show participants will model their garment and give a short presentation. Keep in mind this should be fun, pretend your garment is in a fashion show, you are the commentator and you are describing your outfit to the audience, what would you say? Ideas for this could include why you selected the garment[s], the features of the outfit, color, style, fit, what accessories you selected to go with the outfit, and how you would care for the garment. You might also talk about the fabric and fiber content, the cost of the garment or the cost of the fabric, patterns, etc., if you made it. What you enjoyed, what you would do differently next time. You could even say a few words about your community service activities, if you have any. Just a reminder, this is not a contest, you are not being judged, so have fun!
REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL YOU HAVE SELECTED THE “SUBMIT” BUTTON WHICH WILL THEN GENERATE AN AUTOMATIC EMAIL SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED.
