Step Up and Scale Down


Step Up & Scale Down is a 12-week educational program based on the USDA 2010 Dietary Guidelines, which are intended to help Americans choose a healthful eating plan within their calorie requirements to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The Dietary Guidelines provide sound scientific information about how proper dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases.

Some of the things we will talk about during the 12 weeks include:

 Step Up to Breakfast and Menu Planning

 Scale Down with Moves to Lose

 Step Up your Hydration

 Scale Down by Finding Your Motivational Mojo

 Step Up to Healthy Snacking

Scale Down with a Colorful Plate

 Step Up to Successful Socializing

Scale Down by Knowing Your Numbers

Step Up and Celebrate

This class will be online starting on August 31, 2015. 

Weekly online opportunities to chat with a program leader will be available to participants on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM.

There will also be three Stepping Up in the Kitchen Classes that will be held throughout the 12 weeks for people who would like to come for a short and informative food demonstrations and tastings.  Participants will learn techniques that will help them prepare tasty healthy dishes that the entire family will enjoy.

These classes will be held at the Landmark Bank Conference Center at 1112 East California Street in Gainesville from 12:10 to 12:50 PM.

Cost of program:

$40 which includes 12 weeks of online lessons, weekly updates and motivational tips, incentives for motivation, social media updates, and the 3 lesson series of Stepping Up in the Kitchen.
